Exploring Search Engine Overlap By Chris Sherman. SearchDay (April 28) Thumbshots Ranking tool will analyze the top 100 results from two search engines (out of a list of 7) that you choose. Sherman found that results were very dissimilar. Google has a low overlap with Yahoo. There is a higher overlap between Alltheweb and Altavista which now use the same Yahoo database - but why is there any difference?
