Kosmix, a different kind of clustering engine Pandia (Mar 30)
Pandia looked at the Kosmix travel vertical (Kosmix also does health and autos). Kosmix slots sites / pages into pre-determined topics. On the whole, endorsed Kosmix, finding it as good or better than Mahalo. (Ah - an endorsement for it.)

So far, the best place to go for spam free info on hotels, sights and more has been Mahalo, a human powered search engine edited by payed editors and volunteers. My favorite for computer generated results used to be Ask (here’s an Ask search on Venice)."
I compared several for Kauai, a Hawaiian island
Kosmix had a full profile with images, videos, restaurants, arts and culture - and other ways to refine the search.
Mahalo did have a page for Kauai Vacation with a good set of starting points.
If Mahalo is going to be considered, so should the guides at About.com. The guide for one for Hawaii has a page on Kauai with attractions and lodging well organized.
Ask will always provide a good breakdown on a topic and sometimes a "smart answer" or information capsule. Kauai doesn't warrant the capsule but Hawaii does.
