New No. 2 in Browser Battle, Amir Efrati, Wall Street Journal (Dec 1)
A couple of days ago Chrome was within 4 percentage points of Firefox for market share. Now according to Statcounter Chrome matched or exceeded. What's going on?
It's partly speed - Chrome is said to be faster. (But do we really notice?)
Could be display.
"It [Chrome] also has added to the company's clout because as a browser maker it can help define the kinds of new graphical features that can be used by sites across the Web as well as helping Google funnel Web surfers to its dominant Internet-search engine, the top driver of Google's revenue."
Speaking from personal observation, it's not add-ons or search aids - except - Firefox has been turning off some of those add-ons as they do continuous upgrades. Maybe that is annoying users and those users are swtiching to Chrome.
Also- Chrome usage within striking distance of Firefox, Stephen Shankland, webware (Dec 1)
Net Applications' November browser usage measurements put Chrome at 18.2% and Firefox at 22.1%
