Most young adults go online for no good reason at all: study , AP via Globe and Mail (Dec 2)
I detect some bias in that headline. No good reason? What about just to be amused?
"Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project found that on any given day, 53 per cent of 18 to 29 year-olds go online just to have fun or pass time."
Pew Internet Life was milder - The internet as a diversion and destination
To the question - "Do you ever go online for no particular reason, just for fun or to pass the time?" 81% of those 18 to 29 said yes, but older people are doing it too - 66% aged 30 to 49, and 50% aged 50 to 64. Even 23% of those over 65 admit to it.
