IE 5 Intro

Internet Explorer 5 (IE5) is the Internet suite from Microsoft. It includes the Web browser, full e-mail, a newsreader, and tools for meeting and working with colleagues over the Net. The increasing ease of use and breadth of functionality has made IE5 the Internet suite of choice for many people. Version 5.5 was released in July 2000 and has some modest improvements over IE5.0.

IE 5.5 Components

  • Web Browser: Navigate and search the World Wide Web. Keep favorites.
  • Outlook Express Mail: Send and receive e-mail messages, set up filters, handle multiple accounts.
  • Outlook Express News: Read newsgroups and send messages through Outlook Express
  • MSN Messenger: Instant messaging service - keep a buddy list and know when friends are online. Chat with them online.
  • NetMeeting: Use phone and video to meet with others. Share a whiteboard.
  • Microsoft Chat: Chat with other people in chat rooms at MSN (the Microsoft Network site).
