Change Start Page

When you open the IE5 program and connect to the Net, IE5 probably brings up the home page for MSN. This is an excellent start page - full of news, weather, and quick search aids which you can customize to your personal interests. Still - you might like to start with something else.

Do this through Tools | Internet Options | General. There are three options:

  1. Use Current: makes the page you have in the browser at that moment your start page.
  2. Use Default: sets up MSN as the start page.
  3. Use Blank: have no page at all - saves time.

TIP Start page: Your home page can be a file you have on your computer (called a local file). If you are familiar with HTML, you can create your own page of hotlinks and use it.

Where to next?

When you started using Explorer, it popped up with a particular page, hypertext links were coloured blue, links changed colour once you clicked on them, the font was a particular size - and not always large enough to read. Find out how you can Set Appearances.
