Youth Portal YouthPath is a new portal for young people in Canada. It was created by a team of some 400 young people with leadership and assistance from Human Resources Development Canada and 16 other federal departments. This is intended as a "single access point to government related youth programs, services and information". There are guides to jobs, travel, education, money, health (how to quit smoking) etc, a message board for discussion, polls, and news. It's very youthful, very animated, and very cool. If you don't like the Flash, you can turn it off.

Technology News One very good

Technology News One very good way to stay up-to-date with Internet technology in Canada is to track the feature articles and headlines in the tech sections of the newspapers.

-- Globe and Mail tracks news and has feature articles in Globe Technology - www.globetechnology.com . SIgn up for weekly or daily tech alerts in your inbox.

-- National Post has Science and Technology together at www.nationalpost.com/tech. Stories may appear on the front page too.

-- Toronto Star keeps technology under business. Must select Business from the TorontoStar.ca home page. Has one week of stories.

-- itWorld Canada supplies Toronto Star articles. This is a full tech site from IDG Canada at itworldcanada.com/. Keep alert with the daily ITwire and get previews of the contents of the print magazines such as CIO Canada and ComputerWorld Canada.

-- CanWest coverage of technology is at the Canada.com site. It has a glossary, tool box, wire stories, and shopping. Also check the columnists such as Gillian Shaw of the Vancouver Sun, Andy Riga in the Montreal Gazette and others. Site will also point to features at the National Post such as the IT Monthly report. canada.com/technology/

Search Engines: Somehow Danny Sullivan

Search Engines: Somehow Danny Sullivan picked up a Report on Canadian Search Engines at advancehosting.ca. (http://www.advancedhosting.ca/review_search_engine_canada.htm). Wolfgang Leonhardt advises everyone (presumably Canadians) to make an effort to be listed in Canadian search engines. The short article has a list of 21 Canadian search engines. The list has several that are new to me: OnlyCanada.net, canseek.ca, canadopedia.com, canadiancontent.com. Most of the ones listed are OK and even interesting, but I do wish these Canadian sites would cease with the red maple leaves everywhere on a pink or red background.
