CBC Archives: The CBC has put up clips of some radio and TV programs from the past 60 years at archives.cbc.ca. It's easiest to review the holdings by browsing Topics. There are stories about people, the arts, war, politics, life and society, disasters, science, and sports. Among disasters are Hurricane Hazel, Saguenay Flood, Ice Storm, and Springhill Coal Mines. Not the Red River Flood - strangely - but CBC will be adding more each month to the archive.
The web site was launched last spring - 2002. From "A Vision for the Archives Online -- "The CBC/Radio-Canada Digital Archive Web site project was founded on three principles - to inform, to enlighten and to educate Canadians about their past. Though its primary audience will be college and high school students, it's designed and built with every Canadian in mind. With luck, everyone who visits will enjoy its unique perspective on Canada's history and the history of the CBC."
