Transport Canada library has opened a new website with resources about transportation in Canada. Has a range of resources - acts and regulations, provincial publications, history, resource guides.
Site was created "in collaboration with the libraries of the Transportation Development Centre, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Transportation Safety Board, and the Transportation Association of Canada"
"The Canadian Transportation Research Gateway (CTRG) is intended to provide researchers, students, government, and industry with convenient access to evaluated Canadian transportation research resources through a single gateway"
Canada is e-government leader: Report By JACK KAPICA Globe and Mail Update (May 4)
Accenture does an annual comparative study of the e-services offered by governments in 22 countries. "In it, Canada placed first in all categories of e-government "maturity," which Accenture calls service breadth, service depth and customer relationship management."
Report noted that pace of growth for e-government services is slowing. Some are beginning to offer personal services. Surprisingly the portal style, all-in-one type of site is fading in popularity.
Web traffic indicates Canadian e-government adoption by Shane Schick. ITBusiness.ca (March 15) - Over 60% of Internet users in Canada use the government Web sites. Top usage is at the federal sites, Ontario and Alberta. ComScore estimated that 33% of Canadians turn to e-government sites. "Canadians who most use e-government services tend to be 35 years or older, have household incomes under $60,000 and no children, according to the comScore data. "
Strategis, the Industry Canada resource for industry and business research, has improved its search engine. Gary Price noted that it can categorize results and non-html documents are better handled. Government--Canada--Search Engines
